Admitted, I have never heard what the Vuvuzela horn sounds like ( = how much noise it makes) apart from watching the games from telly. Also, I acknowledge that, provided with this experience, I might think otherwise, but somehow it just seems unbelievable to think that they are actually considering to prohibit the horn in the ongoing World Cup games as reported by the BBC because they make too much noise (!!). Since when have football matches become libraries..? Moreover, isnt it usually the other way around, more noise, better the game.

The vuvuzelas have been traditionally part of the South African football culture, already before the Games. Hence, it is their games, their culture, their show. Somehow prohibiting them would seem like telling them that is not the way to support your team, that you are doing it all wrong, like there would be a correct way to do that (which in the European context seems sometimes to get shitfaced and behaving like a complete jerk).

I say that as long as they are not harming anyone or being violent in any way, it is the right of the South Africans to blow into those horns as loud as they want. I am actually kinda starting to like the hum they make in the telly. Yet who knows, maybe if one day I get to experience them “live”, as said before, I might start to think otherwise..
